This project is called double exposure, which means you take a selfie of yourself and then put an image of one of your favorite places you have been. For me, my most recent favorite place that I have been to was one of the Michigan basketball games. I love the final product of my double exposure because I made it so the scoreboard covered one of my eyes. This is the brightest spot of the image so it has made my eye the focal point of the image. My double exposure now at the end of the trimester is very different compared to my first double exposure at the beginning of the trimester. It is more defined, detailed, and organized. By comparing these two selfies you can see my growth between the two. |
The overall message I was trying to convey with making my Self Portrait Collage was to show whoever saw it what I like, what kind of person I am, and how I take my photos. My first layer was my “selfie of yourself layer”. I took a selfie/neck-up photo of myself this week. It has a plain background and shows what I look like. My second layer was a landscape photo. One morning this weekend I woke up to a sunrise outside my house. I used the rule of thirds to position every object in this photo; This landscape photo shows people that I like landscapes and sunsets. My third layer is a digital photo of my friend driving. I love this photo because it is from the driver's point of view so you can see the buildings and road ahead, which is full of leading lines to the end of the street. My fourth layer is a photo of a plant on a railing. This photo's focus point was the plant holding on to the railing. The railing provided a leading line off into the distance that is blurred. My fifth and final layer is an ornament on a Christmas tree. I took an up-close shot which made the ornament stand out. I love this photo because it shows that Christmas is close and decorations are up. I believe every image I take is something that I am either interested in or stands out to me. Every image that I put on this collage represents who I am and what I enjoy. I am really happy we went through with this project of the Self Portrait Collage because I walked away with an understanding of the type of photos I take and how I like to take them.
